Bill Sears had been in Philadelphia broadcasting for many years. In the ’40s he was at WPEN radio where he broadcast sporting events including college football. During his lengthy career, Bill did play by play for baseball games on both radio and television.

Later, he moved to WCAU; first on radio and later on WCAU-TV, Channel 10. In August & September of 1948 he did a 10-minute program on Channel 10 entitled, “The Sports Page with Bill Sears.” It aired daily at 6:30 pm. During September of that same year, he hosted a weekly WCAU-TV program on Thursday evenings at 7:45 pm for fifteen minutes. It was called, “The Four Leaf Clover with Bill Sears.”
